Barcelona – born, London-based Cristian Zuzunaga studied Typo / Graphic Design at the London College of Communciation followed by an MA in Communication Art & Design at the Royal College of Art in London. His final degree show was a collaboration with a menswear designer based on the pixel – the icon of our time – and Supermodern Architecture.

Since 2004, Cristian Zuzunaga has been looking at the city as a metaphor, a living organism that evolves and changes in a way that reflects our own evolution. Using architecture and the way global cities such as Barcelona, London, New York or Shanghai are constructed inspires and gives form to his unique visual vocabulary. He uses a combination of graphic design with letterpress and screen-printing techniques to create colourful visual landscapes.

His clients include Kvadrat, Ligne Roset, Christophe Delcourt, Tate Gallery and Nanimarquina

Global warming | A daily responsibility, a friendly and kind gesture, an invitation to think on a global scale.

The history of nanimarquina is based on a very clear idea: wanting to design rugs. It’s a simple statement, a transparent declaration of intent that has become a reality by putting into practice values such as observation, innovative endeavour, communication, emotion and knowing how to contemporise traditional craftsmanship.

Since its origins in 1987, nanimarquina has been designing rugs and other textile products, paying particular attention to research on raw materials and production processes. These factors enrich the aesthetic aspect of the products, which are the true stars that give the brand its visibility and commercial success.

Today nanimarquina is one of the leading rug manufacturing firms, exporting 60% of its production. With the second generation now forming part of the management, the company continues to make, live and offer design. It continues to make the principle on which it was founded a reality: to reinvent the rug, giving it new uses, new concepts and playing with elements such as shape, colour and texture.

After studying industrial design at the Escuela Massana of Barcelona and realising the success of her first made to order textile designs, Nani Marquina embarked on the at the time unknown career of industrial design.

True to herself and sensing the success her designs could reap, she created her own business in 1987 despite the difficulties of the times. nanimarquina was created as a brand dedicated to the design, creation and distribution of rugs and textile products for the home, which were based on values such as observation, innovation, enthusiasm and the ability to make craft traditions contemporary.

Nani Marquina has invested special attention and effort in finding the right raw materials and manufacturing processes from the very beginning; factors that enrich the aesthetics of her designs, the main reason for the brand’s commercial success. In addition, thanks to her visionary attitude, Nani Marquina has included in her range of products, collections by outhouse designers of international prestige, and she was the first textile designer to work on the concept of designer rugs.
In 1993 Nani Marquina embarked on her most daring business adventure: she moved the manufacturing facilities to the north of India. The incorporation of craftsmanship and tradition as a new design concept differentiated and characterised the brand. New production methods using craft methods were explored and incorporated, making her designs unique.
